Yeah, Not Even Gonna Try on the Title This Time

That's nothing new, though, I'm pretty sure I gave up on interesting titles several months ago. Nobody's complained yet, so I guess nobody's upset about it.

Last week was busy. I got older, a few of my good friends from the mission called me, I got a bunch of emails that I'm going to now proceed to answer.

So, you know how Spring usually starts up in, like, April or March in the Northern Hemisphere? Yeah, so it was getting nice and warm here until Tuesday. On Tuesday, Winter kicked the loosly secured lid off of it's coffin and blasted us with snow for over 24 straight hours. It was insane. Trees broke in half, everything was a mess and freezing cold. It was then cold until today pretty much. It's still kind of cold, but we're pretty sure that Winter is actually dead this time and won't bother us again. Fingers crossed on that one.

Zone Conference was Thursday, it was a good one. It was cool to see everyone and hear about the work that they're all doing.

Well...

Peace!

Как Сказать...

Yeah, that title is in Russian. What're you gonna do about it?! Probably copy paste it into Google translate.

So, this week was fun. It boiled down to just doing a bunch of stuff. You know, the way that weeks normally work out. I don't remember a ton of stuff that happened.

On Thursday we went to this English club, and the husband of the lady who teaches it was introducing himself a little bit. He said *in Ukrainian accent* "I like playing games on the computer, listening to pretty music. You know, death metal, black metal... pretty music". I looked at him and I was like, 'I bet he'd like Amon Amarth', which is this metal band that I don't really listen too, but I know enough about them to know he'd like them. I told him that. Then, to prove that he knew them, he turned on one of their albums on the car ride home. It was super funny actually, and we had a good conversation about music.

Friday was an attempt at a sports night. Only one person came because it rained that day. It was still fun. I had to teach English that night on my own. I ended up just talking about how cool Texas is the whole time, but everyone seemed to have fun.

On Saturday I found out that Elder Walker is going home. He broke his ankle playing soccer, and he's on a flight home at some point this week. It's super sad, he called me and we were just disappointed together for a while. He's a good kid, and he will be missed. He plans on going back out as soon as his recovery is over.

Yesterday was Easter! Easter is my favorite holiday, I've decided. I've probably already said that before. Anyway, it's still true. Yesterday was a good day.

This morning I woke up at the normal time, then literally 5 minutes later the sisters from Dnepr called me to sing happy birthday. They sounded remarkably awake. I probably did not.

Today, Elder Downing and I are going to go to music stores, then get a chair for our apartment, then get some Dr. Peppers... there's probably other stuff too, I'm just forgetful sometimes.

Anyway, that's all from me!

Peace!

Refried Beans: the National Fruit of Texas

This is a quote from Elder Downing, in reference to refried beans. As you can tell, we get along pretty good.

So, I would send the videos of my apartment, but internet is really dumb today, so that's not going to happen for a while.

In other news, I went on exchanges with Elder Cannon this week. That was fun. It reminded me of when we were companions for a week and a  half. We went to a hardware store to pick up some materials for an activity, stopped at a gas station on the way back for some Dr. Peppers (it's a commodity here, we search for them), went into some sketchy neighborhoods to search for some people who don't live there anymore. It was fun.

On Saturday, Elder Downing and I walked around all day trying to find this one guy. All the paths we were trying to take were blocked by weird industrial areas. We finally get to where his apartment was, only to realize that the list doesn't have which apartment number is his. So, we went to our last resort option: calling him. Honestly, that should have been the first thing that we did. I'm just so used to phone numbers not working that it didn't even cross my mind. We called, found out he moved to a different city. And then we stopped by a couple of pastry places on the way home. So, successful day.

That's pretty much all from me. Elder Downing and I have taken to writting down whatever hilarious things we say to create a quote compilation. Hopefully by the end of our time together, there will be an "Elder Downing Quotes" email, just like there was for Elder Ditty.

Well, that's all.

Peace!

April Fooled

So, the baptism went well on Saturday, with the exception of the fact that the baptismal font stopped filling up shortly after we started the water. We quickly started filling the font at another building across the city and letting everyone know that the baptism was getting moved. And then, after everybody was warned and ready to go to the other building, lo and behold the water started up again! So, we cancelled the location swap, and then went ahead with the baptism an hour later than planned. It was still really cool though. Everything other than that worked.

Anyway, that the April fool's prank of the universe. Best one on my mission.

We finally finished the cleaning of our apartment! It looks great now! I'll send a video eventually, this computer's just super slow.

Winter is dead. Again. It's now spring. For now. Until winter decides that it has something else to say and decides to come back. Hopefully it doesn't.

Today our district got together and had another breakfast. Pancakes again. They just keep getting better. I made them last night to save time, and they were still delicous. After that we played soccer with a bunch of people from different districts in the city. That was super fun. I'm just as bad at soccer as I ever have been, but it was fun.

Anyway, that's about it.

Peace!
