Chapter 25
Elder Robison goes forth with Elder Balyas - The people are desirous to learn the English language - They are taught English, and then are taught about mortality - The work of learning Russian is carried forth by Elder Robison and the elders that serve in the office. February 6-12, 2017.
1 And it came to pass that I, Elder Robison, did go forth with my companion, Elder Balyas, to teach the people according to their desires to learn. And the people, not being desirous to learn of the church, did seek that we would teach them in the language of my fathers.
2 Therefore, we did go invite them to come unto us, and we did teach them in all the ways of the language of my fathers. And they did tell us the tales and legends of their people in the language of my fathers.
3 And now, it came to pass that after they had received sufficiently the learning of the language of my fathers, they were desirous to know more of the church, in particular those points of doctrine concerning the reason that man is subject to death of the body.
4 And so, we did teach them many things for their benefit, that they might know that this life is given to us that we may learn to choose the good from the evil, and that were it to be so that man never died, then he could never be redeemed, but that he must remain in an imperfect body, subject to the trials and pains of mortality.
5 And it came to pass that I, Elder Robison, did say unto them: behold, this we know; that man is subject to age and to death. Therefore, why question ye this point? It is wisdom in God that we are to be subject to these things for a time, that we may learn.
6 Behold, God knows that man will die. He knows the number of man's days upon the face of the earth is short. Therefore has He given us the scriptures, and the words of the prophets; or rather, His words, which are given unto us by the prophets.
7 Yea, and he giveth us these things that we may know the things that man must do in the time he is given, that man may learn good from evil, and that he may be saved at the last day.
8 And it came to pass that after I had spoken these words unto them, we did leave them for a time.
9 And not many days later, they did return to us, again desirous that they might learn the language of my fathers, and that they might learn more of the church.
10 And it was so that we did teach them according to all of their desires.
11 And, having taught them, we did leave once more to our homes.
12 And I, having been given responsibility for my brethren that I should teach them in the language of the land in which we dwelt, did labor abundantly in the office with Elder Ustin, and Elder Fuller, and Elder Balyas, that we might correct the many errors that were discovered.
13 And having fixed these errors I did begin work on a new test, yea, a foundation, upon which a new missionary might build his knowledge of the language more fully.
14 And now, seeing that my writing is sufficiently lengthy, I do make a close of my words unto you, my friends.
Yeah, sometimes I get bored. Nothing that interesting happened this week, so I figured I'd just do this instead of writing that nothing interesting happened. It was entertaining, for me at the very least.
Peace out!
